    Juraj Bilic, Representative of the Republic of Croatia

    Juraj Bilić represents the Croatian Department of Education through CARNET, the Croatian Academic and Research Network. He is a recognised expert in artificial intelligence and digital transformation, with active involvement in the OECD AI community, where he contributes to international work on AI governance and the future of AI systems. At CARNET, he leads the flagship BrAIn initiative, a national programme focused on strengthening AI literacy, critical thinking, and responsible AI use across Croatia’s education system. Through BrAIn and related national efforts, his work has positioned Croatia among the first countries globally to introduce AI into primary and secondary education, translating AI policy into real‑world implementation at scale. His work bridges policy, education, and practice, offering valuable insight into AI in education, trustworthy AI, and the development of human‑centred AI systems within the public sector.

    Risto Uuk, Head of European Policy and Research, FLI

    Risto Uuk is the Head of European Policy and Research at the Future of Life Institute (FLI), where he contributed to shaping the general-purpose AI and systemic risk provisions of the EU AI Act. He is a PhD researcher at KU Leuven, a member of Estonia’s government AI advisory board under the Prime Minister, and co-author of The AI Endgame (Wiley, forthcoming). He also leads the EU AI Act Newsletter, which has over 50,000 subscribers. Previously, he worked at the World Economic Forum on positive AI economic futures and conducted research for the European Commission on trustworthy AI. He holds a master’s degree in Philosophy and Public Policy from the London School of Economics and a bachelor’s degree from Tallinn University in Estonia.
