    Dr. Paolo Dario, Chief Scientific Officer, Dubai Future Labs

    Dr. Paolo Dario is widely regarded as a global pioneer in biorobotics and biomedical robotics, and is Professor Emeritus at Scuola Superiore Sant’Anna, where he founded and led the world‑renowned BioRobotics Institute. He is also widely recognised as the “father of biorobotics,” for his pioneering work in integrating robotics with biology and medicine. He is also Visiting Chief Researcher at Khalifa University and serves as Chief Scientist of Dubai Future Labs, contributing to the advancement of applied robotics and human‑centred innovation at an international scale. Over a distinguished career spanning four decades, Dr. Dario has authored 500+ scientific publications, launched more than 20 deep‑tech spin‑offs, and shaped entire fields including neuro‑robotics, prosthetics, and medical automation. In recognition of his foundational contributions, he is the recipient of numerous global honours, including the 2024 IEEE Robotics and Automation Award, one of the field’s highest distinctions.
